The Transnistrian conflict has its peculiarities and we should take them into account. At the same time, the EU keeps a close eye on the events in Georgia and on Monday it directly rebuked the recognition of the independence of the two regions. EU Special representative for Moldova, Kalman Mizsei said this after a meeting with leaders of the Moldovan parliamentary factions, which was focused on the EU’s position on the situation in Georgia. The tenth meeting of the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Cooperation Committee was held in Chisinau on 1-2 October. The committee’s members broached a string of issues related to the Moldova-EU relations and the fulfilment of the Moldova-EU Action Plan.   Topping the committee’s working agenda were the consequences of Russia’s economic sanctions against Moldovan goods; the Moldovan authorities’ efforts to implement democratic reforms; the Transnistrian conflict, etc. At the end of the meeting, the committee unanimously voted the Declaration and Final Recommendations comprising 31 points.
